'Auld lang syne' is an old Scottish air written by the Scottish poet Robert Burns in 1788. 'Auld lang syne' is a very famous piece that is performed at funerals, graduations, and as farewell or ending to other special occasions.

This song you hear here is a lovely traditional Scottish song written by the talented Irish poet Thomas Moore, which is occasionally wrongly credited to Sir William Davenant.

Ahhhh! I remember singing this piece at the magnificent Covent Gardens during my farewell concert on June 8th, 1926. It is titled 'Addio di mimi' from Puccini's 'La Boheme', a quite amazing piece to sing.

This wonderful composition you listened to was composed by the great Sir Henry Rowley Bishop. The title of this beautiful arrangement is "Lo, hear the gentle lark", one of Sir Henry Rowley Bishop's most famous compositions.
